The Montgomery City- County Public Library is excited to begin the next phase of its Technology Lending Program. 50 Internet- ready Wi-Fi Hotspots, iPads, and Chromebooks are now available for Montgomery City- County Public Library patrons to check out for up to 1 week. These Hotspots Chromebooks, and iPad are part of a grant the Montgomery City-County Public Library was awarded from the Emergency Connectivity Funding as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The funding is meant to address digital inclusion, broadband availability, and respond to challenges of COVID- 19 in communities, and to close the "Homework Gap".
As of March 7, 2022 The library has already started the Hotspots, and iPads and Chromebooks Lending Program is avaliable throughout all Montgomery City- County Public libraries.
Library patrons can come in person to their local library to register and checkout devices. There is a limit of one hotspot per iPad or Chromebook device per library cardholder for 1 week with unlimited renewal upon availability. Hotspots can be used with up to 10 devices at a time and utilize T-Mobile service. Montgomery City-County Public Library has established a Tech Help Hotline to assist patrons with our Hotspot, iPad, and Chromebook devices. Technology Mission
MCCPL will be a leader in helping to close the digital divide by becoming an information hub granting access to computers, electronic information, and the Internet to the members of the Montgomery community. MCCPL will continue to work towards developing a staff that is capable of selecting appropriate electronic information for posting on MCCPL’s website and various social media sites.
MCCPL will remain committed to providing highly trained staff that can assist patrons in using the Internet, computers, and electronic information. MCCPL will also provide access to databases and electronic resources both in-house and through remote access. Goals and objectives will be reviewed and updated to ensure that MCCPL is equipped to meet its mission and vision through this Technology Plan. This plan shall serve as MCCPL’s technology plan through 2024, and will be re-evaluated and updated at the end of that period.
