We will host a Performance Showcase and Art Exhibition on Feb 24th, 2026.
Registration is open – 2/14/2026
ART
Required: Draw inspiration from a historical time period, a person making History today, a historical artist you admire. Let your African American inspiration be your guide as you create a unique work of art or emulate a style unique to your inspiration. Must include a Bibliography of source material and a Paragraph to accompany your artwork. Open to all Mediums. –Must submit artwork physically to the nearest library branch to be picked up and displayed at Juliette Hampton Morgan Library Throughout the month of February. –Artwork is not required at the time of registration but must be submitted by February 14th 2026
DANCE
Required: 5-7-minute Dance-: Draw inspiration from a historical time period, a person making History today, a historical dancer or choreographer you admire. Let your African American inspiration be your guide as you create an original dance presentation or recreate a previously performed piece by a Dancer or Choreographer. Must include a Bibliography of source material for all recreated work and a Paragraph to introduce the piece by February 14th, 2026.
DRAMATIC ARTS/ORATORY ARTS
Required: 5-7(or less)-minute Presentation- Poetry, Speech, Monologues, Soliloquy, Dramatic Recitation, Social Commentary: Draw inspiration from historical time period, a person making History today, a historical dramatist, orator, or poet you admire. Let your African American inspiration be your guide as you create original works or choose to recite a powerful piece of previously published material. Must include a Bibliography of source material for all recreated material and a Paragraph to introduce your piece.
MUSIC
Required: 5-7(or less)-minute Presentation-: Draw inspiration from a historical time period, a person making History today, a historical artist you admire. Let your African American inspiration be your guide as you create a unique work of musical genius or emulate a style unique to your musical inspiration. Must include a Bibliography of source material for all recreated material and a Paragraph to introduce your piece. Instruments not provided by the Library
