Mrs. Zella’Ques Holmes has built a distinguished career with the Montgomery City-County Public Library (MCCPL), where she began as a Library Page and advanced through multiple roles, including Library Assistant, Librarian I, Librarian II, Librarian IV, Assistant Library Director, and ultimately, Library Director.
Over the course of her career, Mrs. Holmes has made significant contributions to library services and operations. She has introduced engaging story times and community programs, organized staff workshops to enhance professional development, and overseen updates to the library’s automation system. In addition, she has chaired, co-chaired, and served on key policy committees, including Standards of Service, Circulation, Collection Development, and Long-Range Planning. She has also led personnel initiatives and guided important facility improvements to better serve the community.
Mrs. Holmes is a Montgomery, Alabama native and proud graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University at Montgomery and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Outside of her professional career, Mrs. Holmes is dedicated to her family. She and her husband, Marcus, have three children, and she enjoys supporting them in their extracurricular activities. She is also passionate about reading, community service, and advancing social initiatives through her membership in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Psi Lambda Zeta Chapter.
