Dr. Mimi Evelyn Johnson

Dr. Mimi Evelyn Johnson is a distinguished educational administrator with more than 40 years of service in higher education. Renowned for her expertise in institutional effectiveness, accreditation, and strategic planning, she has led transformative initiatives that strengthen student success, retention, and degree completion. Her work also spans grant development and evaluation, community college innovation, and organizational change management.

A published author, Dr. Johnson wrote Managing Organizational Change in an Educational Environment and a children’s book, A Day in the Life of Diva, inspired by her certified therapy dog, Diva. Throughout her career, she has played a pivotal role in shaping strategic planning, assessment, and evaluation in postsecondary education. She serves as the Accreditation Liaison for Trenholm State Community College, as the past Director of the Trenholm Foundation, and as Activity Director for Title III-B U.S. Department of Education grants.

Dr. Johnson’s leadership extends far beyond the academy. She serves as President of the Omega Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, where she has guided the chapter to earn numerous South Eastern Regional and International awards, including personally receiving the 2023 Silver Sister of the Year in the South Eastern Region. In 2024, she was recognized as one of the Women of Excellence by Women in Training, Inc. She also lends her expertise as a board member for Tie and Doll, Inc., the Boys & Girls Club of the River Region, the Pearls of Service Foundation, and the Montgomery City-County Public Library.

A former Miss Alabama State University, Dr. Johnson earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Law from her alma mater. She continues to advance institutional excellence through her vision, dedication, and decades of experience. Dr. Johnson is married to Nathan Johnson, Jr., and proudly shares her home with Diva, her beloved therapy dog.
