Frazine Taylor, Author/Archivist, Alabama State University, Presenter
Description: Come learn how to use genealogy to locate African American families in Montgomery County and the state of Alabama. Frazine Taylor, former Head of Reference for the Alabama Department of Archives and History (ADAH), author of Researching African American Genealogy in Alabama: A Resource Guide, Chair of the Black Heritage Council of the Alabama Historical Commission, and currently employed at the Alabama State University Archives, brings twenty years of experience to this workshop in which she lectures, utilizes group discussions, and employs hands-on demonstrations to teach how to use common records like wills, marriage records, and estate files, as well as little-known and unique Montgomery County records, to find African American family members.
