| The book for discussion will be the historical novel And the Rivers Rose
by local author Deborah Vogelgesang. We are delighted to have the author
come to discuss her book, followed by a book signing. Refreshments will be
served.
Book Jacket Summary: In 1878, the sacred Mound at the Indian
Village of Cahawba is ominously ignored when the site is chosen as
Alabama's first capitol. Rapid construction of mercantile shops, the new
capitol, and stately homes creae an air of excitement as the
town emerges into a bustling center of commerce, state government and
social prominence.
