Tech Appointments

Sessions will be one-on-one by appointment only for a maximum of one hour.  The type of help will depend on your needs.  You may use your own device, or you may borrow one of ours.  Let us know what you want to learn!  Assistance can include necessary computer skills, some Microsoft Office programs, email, eBooks, mouse, or any of our digital catalogs.
 
Adult Ukulele Session
October 2 @ 10:00 – 11:00 am
Interested in learning to play the ukulele? Come meet like-minded people who appreciate learning to play a musical instrument.  You can bring your own ukulele, or you can check one out from our library.  Learning to play a musical instrument is a great way to stimulate the mind!
 
Crochet Class
Thursday, October 3 and 17 @ 4:00 – 5:00 pm
Do you like to keep your hands busy? Have you always wanted to learn to crochet? Come to our class as a beginner or someone who wants to learn a new stitch or two.  Please bring your own needles and yarn.
 
Ukulele Class
October 21 @ 4:00 – 5:00 pm
This class is geared toward all individuals ages 6 through senior adults who wish to learn to play the ukulele.  You may bring your own ukulele, or you may check one out from our library.  Learning to play a musical instrument is a great way to stimulate your mind! (October 21, because we are closed the 14).

Sandra Whatley, Central Alabama Aging Consortium, will be here to address new and existing Medicare programs.  She will also be available to meet with you one-on-one to discuss your prescription plans.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Register now for this powerful program geared toward boosting your infant’s brain power.  Simply read to your child, birth to kindergarten, every day with the goal of having read 1,000 books before they enter kindergarten.  You will keep track of each book read, and your child will receive a reward after every 100 books read.  Find out more about this new program at the Coliseum Boulevard Branch Library.

Do you need assistance with your assignments? Bring your materials so our tutors can help you with your understanding.  Our tutors will assist you with your reading, math, or English.  You must pre-register to attend these sessions, and tutors who are interested in assisting must pre-register, also.

Legos
October 8 and 22 @4:00 – 5:00 pm
Come join the fun as we build with Legos.  We will have a theme for our first meeting of the month, and it will be to design a tree or flower, and the second meeting of the month will be devoted to free play.  Come see what you can create!
 
Tinkering Table/STEM Program
October 15 @ 4:00 – 5:00 pm
In honor of chemistry month, we will experiment with Elephant Toothpaste. Does the bottle size or shape matter? What if we add this… what will happen?

Parent Pre-school Activity Center
This table changes once a month.  We will have a new activity to enhance the five senses and further develop your child’s thought processes.  This table has activities where parent and child explore together.
 
 
Puzzles
We have an adult level puzzle on a table at all times. Come and help put our community puzzles together.
