African American History Challenge
African American History Month
The Month of February
Come and view our African American history bulletin board and see if you can identify all the people who were involved in the Bus Boycott struggle.  If you are unable to name each person, visit our Art Gallery so you may find answers to help you identify each person. 
 
Senior Tech appointments
Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.
Sessions will be one-on-one and by appointment only for a maximum of one hour.  The type of training will depend upon your needs.  Tell us what you want to learn!  Training can include basic computer skills, using the mouse, some Microsoft Office programs, email, and eBooks.  Call 271-7005 to make an appointment.
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Register now for this powerful program geared toward boosting your infant’s brain power.  Simply read to your child, birth to kindergarten, every day with the goal of having read 1,000 books before they enter kindergarten.  You will keep track of each book read, and your child will receive a reward after every 100 books read.  Find out more about this new program at the Coliseum Boulevard Branch Library. 
"Free" Extracurricular Activities for Your Kids
Color Coders
Tuesday, February 5 @ 3:30 – 4:30 pm (Note new time)
Join us as we color age appropriate coloring sheets using colored pencils. A variety of sheets will be available for you to choose from.  Coloring is a great stress reducer, so come and melt away your stress!  All ages are invited to color.

Homework Assistance
February 5, 12, 19, and 26
5:00 – 5:45 pm
We will offer homework assistance every Tuesday of the month.  Our tutors offer assistance in Math, English, and reading.  Students in grades 1 – 12 are invited.  Please bring your own materials and homework, or the lessons you will need assistance with.  Registration is required of students, and adults who are interested in tutoring are invited to assist, with pre-registration required. 
 
Being Creative with Legos

Tinkering Table

STEAM and more this month we will make Snowmen and then….destroy them. We will use our science and math for this activity. Come and find out what ingredients we will use to make our snowmen and what element we will use to destroy them.

Parent Pre-school Activity Center
The table changes twice a month.  We will have a new activity to enhance the five senses and further develop your child’s thought processes.  This is an activity where parent and child explore together.
 
Puzzles
We have an adult level puzzle on a table at all times. Come and help put our community puzzles together.
Laptops for check out
Laptop computers are now available for check-out to be used in the library ONLY. 
Coliseum Art Gallery
African American History Month
Carl Berry, artist
Mr. Berry will be exhibiting his paintings, which feature key figures during the Montgomery Bus Boycott.  These paintings depict people and places that were prominent during this struggle.
